Bill Barnard, General Manager
As we embark on a new year, I wanted to take some time to reflect on 2020, perhaps one of the most difficult years many of us can remember, and look forward to some of what we can expect in 2021 from a PebbleCreek operations perspective.
While most of 2020 was not what we expected or planned for, I am proud to say that the operations team of directors, managers, and staff were very agile, responsive, and diligent when it came to managing costs, which resulted in our overall budgetary performance being favorable. In addition, we were able to complete a great deal of projects and improvements, in many cases seizing the opportunity of some facility closures to get things done. Some of the project highlights include:
* Renovation of the Eagle’s Nest golf course irrigation system, greens, and bunkers
* Refurbishment of the Eagle’s Nest clubhouse to include carpet, furniture, painting, artwork, lighting, installation of ADA-compliant front counter, and other items
* Installation of the Energy Management System community-wide
* Upgrade of the community Wi-Fi infrastructure
* Tuscany clubhouse installation of ADA compliant automatic doors, replacement of carpets, flooring in the Billiard Room, and update to the ALC office
* Multiple maintenance projects on our roads including crack fill, patch repair, polychip, and seal coating
* Multiple pool projects to include new cool deck at all outdoor pools and refilling of new water in all pools.
* New cabinetry at the Creative Arts Center
* Resurfacing of tennis courts 12 and 13 along with eco-friendly bird deterrents at all outdoor sports courts
* New artificial turf at Tuscany Clubhouse and the Activities Building
* Regrading, new sod, and addition of water stations at the Dog Park
* Painting of exterior walls at Eagle’s Nest
* Addition of fencing along PebbleCreek Parkway at Eagle’s Nest and replacement of perimeter fencing at the softball field
* Cleaning and repair of the Bullard Wash underground pipe
In 2021, we have several significant projects on the horizon, including painting the exterior walls at Tuscany Falls, the remodel/expansion of Toscana’s Restaurant, addition of lighting on the existing pickleball courts, and, hopefully, the addition of 16 new pickleball courts. There are also a number of other regular maintenance and replacement projects planned that we will keep you updated on as we go through the year.
As we begin 2021, there is still much uncertainty about how and when things may get back to “normal,” but our team is prepared and ready. PebbleCreek has weathered the challenges presented in 2020, and while those challenges are still present, I believe that there is hope and positive things are coming our way. Happy New Year!
