Linda Montgomery

Our September Spotlight highlights someone that many artists who frequent the Creative Arts Center already know. Meet Linda Montgomery. Linda met her husband, Bill, while studying nursing at Indiana University. They lived in Tucson for a while and then went back to Indiana, raising four daughters. While working as a Registered Nurse, Linda also enjoyed working for a private airline that required the flight attendants for their transatlantic flights to have a nursing degree. After retiring her wings in 1982, she became the Director of Professional Services at her hospital.
Linda and Bill moved to Avondale in 1998, and in 2017 Linda moved to PebbleCreek seven years after a helicopter crash took Bill’s life. She became active in many of the wonderful opportunities that PebbleCreek offers and was able to get into the Glass Arts Club in 2019, a year and a half after her move. Around 2020, the Glass Arts Club instituted a lottery system for residents hoping to be picked for one of 10 spots in our beginner classes, but when Linda joined, the hopefuls were still lining up outside the CAC, some before sunrise, to be one of the first 10 to sign up when the CAC opened at 9 a.m.!
Aside from glass, Linda also makes greeting cards, fingerless gloves, and all different scrubbies for bodies, dishes/pots and pans, and wheels. You will also see her in the Expressions Gallery where she volunteers her time monthly to help with intake of all different art media. When she isn’t creating or helping to showcase others’ creations, she can be found playing golf, Mahjong, Samba, and Wii Bowling, working in her yard, hanging out with the Singles group, or traveling. She especially loves spending time with her six grandchildren in Seattle, Texas, and Surprise, Ariz., as well as siblings and lifelong friends in Indiana.
