The PebbleCreek Men’s Golf Association awards an annual hole-in-one prize to its members who score a hole-in-one during any PCMGA held event. In 2019, that prize was shared by Gus Gladding, Victor VanHorn, Ron Morrow, and Ken Schumacher.
When PCMGA members renew their membership, $5 is collected from each member who wishes to participate in the hole-in-one fund. The amount collected is then split between all members who score a hole-in-one during a PCMGA event held in that calendar year.
Gus Gladding: On January 17, Gus made the first hole-in-one of the 2019 PCMGA season on the 17th hole of the Tuscany Falls East course. The hole played 142 yards to a front pin. Gus hit his 7-iron about middle height just left of the hole. The ball kicked off the hill to the right and went dead into the hole. He and his playing partners, Bill Schaffer, Ed Salko, and Harry Apodaca all saw it go in. In their excitement, all started giving Gus high fives!
Victor VanHorn: On February 13, Victor also made a hole-in-one on the 17th hole on the Tuscany Falls East course. Vic hit an 8-iron 132 yards to a left-middle pin. He hit a fade shot landing the ball just left of the hole. It kicked right a bit and went into the hole. Vic’s first reaction was, “Did that go in the hole?” He and his playing partners Bob Newell, Arnie Lawrence, and Dean Bass all saw it go in.
Ron Morrow: On March 15, Ron made a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Eagle’s Nest. Ron and his playing partners Duane Hagstrom, Andy Banister, and Dick Helmstetter played the hole from 157 yards to a front pin placement. Ron hit a 6-iron and his ball flew just left of the sand trap, landing just right of the hole. It rolled left and disappeared from Ron’s sight. He said to his playing partners, “Hey guys, I think that went in”.
Ken Schumacher: On December 5, Ken made a hole-in-one on the 12th hole at Tuscany Falls West course. It was his first shot of the day. The hole was playing 147 yards to a front pin placement. Jim Sheard, one of Ken’s playing partners, hit first. His shot came within three feet of the hole. A great shot for sure. Jim then said to his teammates Ken, Ed Bobigian, and Gary Ebel, “I gave you a target, now go get it”. Ken played next and hit a 7-iron with a nice trajectory right at the flag. His ball landed about six feet short of the hole, bounced, then rolled in for the ever-coveted hole-in-one. They all saw it go in. Jim’s shot was great. Ken’s was perfect.
Congrats to all four winners!
