February meeting: The key to unlocking many genealogical mysteries is finding female ancestors maiden names. How many of us know them further back than our grandparents or great-grandparents? In her presentation “Love’s Labour’s Lost—Finding Female Ancestry,” Larson acknowledges that finding maiden names of female ancestors may be the most difficult problem genealogists have to face. This lecture will present many useful techniques, sources, and suggestions to help you identify these elusive women.

Ms. Larson is a professional genealogist and the owner of Janna’s Genealogy Services. She has been an avid genealogist since 1981 and holds a B.A. degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ms. Larson has been a member of the Family History Society of Arizona since 1982 and has held many offices in the Society. She has taught throughout the Phoenix area and is a frequent and well-known genealogical lecturer in the state. Visit her website at jannalarson.weebly.com/jannas-genealogy-services.html.

What did you miss? On Jan. 12, Amy Urman spoke on “Immigration to the U.S.” Attendees learned the who, why, when, and how our ancestors came to the United States. Ms. Urman is the owner of Nosy Wilma, LLC a private investigative agency licensed in the state of Arizona. She is a professional genealogist, licensed private investigator, researcher, and lecturer. Read more about her on her website at nosywilma.com/about.

Support PCGC. PCGC had a successful See’s Valentine’s Day candy fundraiser that ended Jan. 31. Thank you to everyone who supported us in helping us fund our fabulous speakers.

Genealogy Detectives can assist members on starting their research or help when they are “stuck.” Sometimes it is just a matter of getting organized or getting assistance on where or how to start searching for your family. The Genealogy Detectives can help jump-start your search. This is a member-only benefit and is a great reason to join PCGC.

Visit our website at pebblecreekgenealogy.club for more information about PCGC. General information is open to all site visitors with additional content (including Genealogy Detectives) available to members only. This is another member benefit and another great reason to join PCGC.
