The PebbleCreek Genealogy Club (PCGC) next general meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. PCGC meets the second Monday of each month in the Palm Room in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse from 9 a.m. to noon. Guests are always welcome!

On Dec. 8 members will gather at the Oasis Pool for our annual Christmas social. We will have a potluck brunch and share memories and traditions and maybe a visit from Santa!

Coming up:

* Jan. 12: “Immigration to the U.S.” by Amy Urman

* Feb. 9: “Loves Labour’s—Finding Female Ancestry” by Janna Larson

* March 9: “Census Records” by Suzanne Brayer

* April 13: “Making the Most of Newspaper Research” by Dave Gaboury

* May 11: “Genealogy in Chaos: Getting and Staying Organized by Robert Wilbanks

What did you miss? At our November meeting Suzanne Young Brayer presented “The Mayflower: An Interesting Mix of Passengers.” Ms. Brayer is an educator, historical researcher, and avid genealogist with more than 30 years’ experience. Members enjoyed learning about her insights on these ancestors and how to look for them.

The election of the 2026 Board of Directors was completed by in person voting. The new Board was announced: Vicky Ferraresi, President; Kevin Campbell, Vice-President; Judy Husk, Treasurer; Mary Winter, Secretary; Barbara Downey, Member-at-Large. They will be installed at the December meeting.

Thanks to the Nominating Committee (Donna Payne, Kathy Koch, and Emma Mosley) who recruited the candidates and facilitated the election.

The field trip to the West Valley Genealogical Society Library on Oct. 22 was a great introduction to the organization. PCGC members had an orientation and tour of the library, then used their fantastic resources. Comments included “Let’s come back,” “It’s a fabulous resource,” “Very helpful,” “I absolutely loved how many “helpers” were there for us,” “I found my grandmother and her siblings … now I know I am on the correct path to this family!”

On the social front. The PCGC has formed a Mahjong Group for members. Everyone enjoyed learning California Mahjong (it’s easy, especially if you play Gin Rummy and it does not use a card). We will play at least two Monday afternoons a month. Contact Vicky Ferraresi at viferra@outlook.com if interested in playing this fun game.

Monthly luncheons continue to be held on alternating Mondays and Thursdays.

Genealogy Detectives can assist members on starting their research or help when they are “stuck.” Sometimes it is just a matter of getting organized or getting assistance on where or how to start searching for your family. The Genealogy Detectives can help jump-start your search.

Visit our website at pebblecreekgenealogy.club/ for more information about PCGC. General information is open to all site visitors with additional content (including Genealogy Detectives) available to members only. This is another member benefit and another great reason to join PCGC.

Hope to see you as we learn more about discovering our families!
