Welcome back! PebbleCreek is coming back after the tortuous summer heat and the PebbleCreek Genealogy Club (PCGC) is no exception. General meetings will resume after Labor Day with a revised format. Meetings will start at 9 a.m. with a short business meeting, followed by Tips and Tricks and the speaker. Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the Palm Room in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. Guests are always welcome!

On Monday, Sept. 9, we will hear from Janna Larson on “Evaluation of Evidence” on how to avoid pitfalls and develop a genealogy you can trust. Ms. Larson is a professional genealogist and the owner of Janna’s Genealogy Services. She has been an avid genealogist since 1981 and holds a B.A. degree from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ms. Larson has been a member of the Family History Society of Arizona since 1982 and has held many offices in the Society. She has taught genealogy classes at Phoenix College and many locations in the Phoenix area and is a frequent and well-known genealogical lecturer in the state.

Our October meeting will focus on German genealogy. The Oct. 14 speaker is Amy Urman, a professional genealogist, licensed private investigator, researcher, and lecturer with more than 25 years of genealogy teaching and historical research. Ms. Urman will speak on “German Families in America.” As summarized on her website, nosywilma.com, she holds a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and is a graduate of ProGen. She has received advanced training in Law, Land, Genetic Genealogy, Advanced Methods, Fundamentals, and Forensics. She is the co-founder and past president of the Pima County Genealogy Society and serves on the National Genealogy Society Delegate Steering Committee. Ms. Urman is a member of the Arizona Association of Licensed Private Investigators, the Association of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Arizona Historical Society, and numerous state societies and serves on the State Lineage and DNA Committees, and as treasurer of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Tucson Chapter.

The October Tips and Tricks will offer more advice on searching your German roots with Erik Riswick, Polly Wemberly, and Vicky Ferraresi.

Hope to see you on Sept. 9 and beyond for a new year of family discovery!
