Join us Monday, March 11 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Eagle’s Nest Palm Room for the next PebbleCreek Genealogy Club (PCGC) meeting.
Our Mission: Educate and support the members of the PC Genealogy community in genealogical research, including computer databases, offline records, and source documentation. Guests are always welcome!
The theme of this year’s program is “American Migration.” Our speaker on March 11 is Tom Jenney who will talk about the McClelland Irish Library, which is housed in a four-story Norman-style castle in downtown Phoenix. The Library has a wealth of genealogical resources available to people who are digging for their roots—especially their Irish and Irish-American roots. Tom will also share some sordid family secrets he has uncovered as part of his own genealogical searches!
Mr. Jenney lives in Phoenix, where he works as the executive director of the McClelland Irish Library. He was born in Tucson, where he graduated from University High School. He earned an associate degree from the New Mexico Military Institute and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Georgetown University. In Washington, D.C., and Arizona, Jenney has worked as a think tanker, fundraiser, grassroots organizer, and lobbyist. He has taught government, economics, and Spanish to high schoolers, and has served as a bookkeeper and treasurer for several nonprofit organizations. He has recently published a collection of short stories titled “American Futures.”
The Business Meeting, Special Interest Groups, and Members Helping Members will follow the speaker. Bring your computer laptop, tablet, family tree, etc. if you need assistance with any aspect of genealogy.
Mark your calendar as an “Antique Roadshow” comes to PebbleCreek! Genealogy Club members will have the chance to have their treasures, be it an antique, an artifact, or simply junk, appraised by E J Auctions and Appraisals on Monday, March 25 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Palm Room in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse. The appraisal will be free and provide you with an understanding of what you may want to keep, toss, or sell. Appraisals are by appointment only for up to three items. Come to the PCGC March meeting (March 11) to learn more, join the club and as a member, sign up for an appraisal appointment. A $5 donation will secure your appointment. Visit www.ejsauction.com to learn more about E J Auctions and Appraisals. Contact Denise Beeson at [email protected] or 707 694-6826 for more information.
“Ask your Genealogist” individual research consultations will also be available at this event.
What did you miss? Our February meeting featured Suzanne Young Brayer, who discussed using U.S. Land Records for genealogical research purposes. She reviewed the wealth of resources available to genealogists by researching deeds, land grants, homestead applications and grants, etc.
