Fitness Class Punch Card Goes Digital

Melissa Kallett

The Tuscany Falls (TF) Fitness Studios pre-paid class fee card will now be offered as a digital card beginning July 5. Previously sold paper “punch cards” will remain in effect through their expiration date, which is one year from date of purchase, but all new “cards” will be digital. This means that after July 5, there will be no physical punch card provided to residents when purchasing a package of 20 pre-paid classes. Instead, the package of pre-paid classes will be added to their homeowner account and deducted each time they “bop in” at the Fitness Studios or Fitness Center to take a class. This provides the extra convenience of not needing to bring a physical card when attending a class and not having to worry if a card goes missing, gets put in the washing machine, or has another mishap.

Residents will be able to monitor their use of pre-paid classes and track the number of remaining pre-paid classes at the HOA website. This is similar to how golfers monitor their golf rounds and classes digitally on the HOA website.

Residents will continue to purchase their package of pre-paid classes at the TF Fitness Center or TF Fitness Studios at a discounted rate. Normal drop-in fees are $5 per class, but a discount of $1.25 per class is offered when you pre-pay for classes in advance, making each class only $3.75. As with the paper punch cards currently in use, each online class package will be good for 20 classes and cost $75.

Once purchased, a resident will have one year to take the pre-paid classes, the same as our practice with today’s paper punch cards. At the end of that 365-day period, any unused pre-paid classes will be erased from their account and cannot be restored.

Individuals are welcome to continue use of their existing paper punch card, or they can return it for a credit toward purchase of the new digital pre-paid package. Residents simply need to present their punch card to the fitness staff member who will credit $3.75 for each unused punch toward purchase of the new digital pre-paid package. For example, if there are seven unused punches, a credit of $26.25 will be applied to the purchase of the new digital package of classes.

Short-term renters will continue to pay the drop-in fee ($5), though they may purchase a card stock “punch card” for 20 classes at the discounted fee of $75 ($3.75 per class).

Your fitness center staff will be able to walk you through the process and get you on your way to digital tracking of your pre-paid classes.
