Fifth Annual Rotary Foundation Golf Tournament and Ball Drop Set For February 20

The Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek has announced plans for their foundation’s fifth annual Charity Golf Tournament and Golf Ball Drop. The event will be held at the PebbleCreek Tuscany Falls Golf Club at 16222 Clubhouse Drive, on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022. Registration will be from 7:30 to 8 a.m., the golf ball drop at 8 a.m., shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., and lunch follows at 12:30 p.m.

The cost of a foursome will be $450 ($115 individual fee) and includes golf, cart, lunch, and prizes. A PebbleCreek golf package member’s fee is $75. “We are limited to 144 golfers and we consistently sell out, so I’d suggest anyone who is interested in playing in the tournament get signed up as soon as they can,” said Dennis Johnson, co-chair of the event.

An exciting part of this event is the very popular golf ball drop. Five hundred tickets are being sold for $20 each, and the winning ticket receives $3,000. The 500 numbered golf balls are dropped from a Goodyear Fire Department ladder truck onto the putting green, and the ball, or balls, that go into the hole (or closest to the hole) wins the $3,000. The golf ball drop will happen at 8 a.m. on the putting green by the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse.

Sun Health and Rancho La Loma have generously agreed to be this year’s Main Event Sponsor. “Sun Health and Rancho La Loma have always supported this event, but never at this level,” said Jim Frey, co-chair of this event. “We are very pleased that for this event they have stepped up to be the Main Event Sponsor, and we certainly appreciate their continuing support.”

The proceeds from this event will be distributed to a number of organizations here in the West Valley. This event is the largest fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Goodyear PebbleCreek, and, over the past three years, they have distributed $147,712. Some of the local organizations that have received funds include Agua Fria Food Bank, All Faith Community Services, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Kare Bears, Meals of Joy, New Life Center, Southwest Lending Closet, and The Salvation Army Estrella Mountain. Other organizations that have received funding include the Navajo Health & Wellness Project, Polio Plus, Interact Crutches 4 Africa, and Title 1 Student’s Clothing. The Agua Fria Elementary School District and the Litchfield Elementary School District have also received funds over the years for a number of varied programs and projects.

The Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. in the Palm Room in the Eagle’s Nest Clubhouse in PebbleCreek located at 3645 Clubhouse Drive, and everyone is invited to attend a meeting and find out about Rotary and its 1.2 million members worldwide.
