When Pam Marshall and her husband, Jerry, toured PebbleCreek in search of their future retirement home, she was in awe of the beauty and color of the fused glass pieces she saw in the gallery windows. She told herself she wanted to do that someday. In 2014, they took the plunge and left the cold, gray winter skies of northwest Chicago and moved to sunny Goodyear. They’ve never looked back.
The PebbleCreek Glass Arts Club (PCGAC) was the first club that Pam joined after moving here. She had never tried fused glass, but she knew right away that she had found a club that she was going to love. The members were friendly and welcoming, always lending a hand to help her learn this new and challenging craft. That spirit of cooperation has certainly worn off on Pam, as she is doing the same—giving back and helping others in the glass room.
Pam has also served on the board of the PCGAC, first as secretary in 2018 and then as president of the club in 2019 and 2020. Pam had a huge challenge when the glass studio had to be remodeled, as well as dealing with COVID-19. I might add, she did an excellent job pulling it all together! She loves to teach, having been both an instructor and assistant instructor during her three years on the board.
Pam’s enthusiasm for glass art is as strong today as it has ever been. She recently took on some larger projects, having been commissioned (well, actually for free) by her sister to make a large wall piece of the Memphis skyline. This led her to other larger challenges which, although they are displayed in her home, are of true gallery quality. Pam loves the challenge and looks forward to trying new and even more challenging projects in the future. Images on Pinterest just keep providing creative fuel for Pam’s glass fusing passion.
