Fall Means Lots of PC Democratic Club Social and Community Activities

Alisa Moore and Patti McEnerney

The PebbleCreek Democratic Club continues to support our club-designated charity, the Agua Fria Food and Clothing Bank (AFFCB), by contributing non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, baby diapers and formula, plastic bags, and substantial monetary donations. AFFCB is instrumental in serving those in need in the southwest Valley. Over the summer, the club contributed about 1,500 pounds of food donations and $1,200 in cash. A club member, Brian Cudmore, who is also an AFFCB volunteer, collects the donations and makes the deliveries for the club.

The club has also had great success in collecting books, puzzles, and games for the five jails in the Maricopa County jail system. This spring, the club contributed over 650 paperback books (no hardbacks, please) and numerous magazines, greeting cards, CDs, DVDs, and games. After a summer break, collection begins again Oct. 1. Marcia Wahl (Eagle’s Nest side) and Cheryl Peterson-Karlan (Tuscany Falls side) are the Social/Community Services Committee members responsible for the collections. To contribute, please contact them through their information in the Source Book. Remember to remove all personal information from magazine covers prior to donating.

We are grateful to our many members and additional PebbleCreek residents who have generously contributed, and continue to contribute, to both these worthwhile charities.

We also help support other PebbleCreek clubs in their community activities. The PebbleCreek Dems were pleased to contribute to the PebbleCreek Quilt Club for its annual veterans’ quilt gifts and luncheon.

Time to kick off our club’s social season! The Social Committee is chaired by Frankie Veltri and has lots of events in the works. The Welcome Back Luncheon will be held Oct. 15 in the Chianti Room of the Tuscany Falls Clubhouse, beginning at 11 a.m.

Legislative District 13 is hosting a Sunday Sundae Social, an event chaired by two of the PebbleCreek Democratic Club members, Jan Race and Flora Conley. On Oct. 24, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Giving Tree Park in Verrado, there will be ice cream sundaes, music, games, and a 50/50 raffle. For more info and to buy tickets, visit azld13democrats.org/events.

The end of October heralds another social event. The Holiday on Parade Dinner Dance will be held on Oct. 30 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom, beginning at 6 p.m. All the holidays we missed due to the pandemic (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, etc.) will be celebrated together. Decorations and costumes will reflect the wide range of holidays!

Please refer to the club website at www.pcdemclub.org, and look for upcoming emails for additional event details. RSVPs and menu selections are required. Everyone is welcome!
