As the summer temperatures settle in at 110 plus, I think you’d believe anything that had a cooling sound to it. Hold that thought; remember to plan for December 2, PebbleCreek’s own artist’s festival held indoors at the Creative Arts Center to avoid the chill in the air outside. And, you only have five whole months to wait for this cool event.
Meanwhile, imagine the pleasures available in a forest meadow sitting beneath a canopy of trees. Imagine the trilling of birds, the mist of a stream gently rushing past, a breeze ruffling through the scene. If this setting is hard for you to picture, don’t worry. Expressions Gallery has a roomful of beautiful paintings in oil, pastel, watercolor and alcohol ink just awaiting your selection and purchase. Just say the titles aloud and you’ll be hooked: Laramie River, Lone Tree, Framed Forest, Aspen Kaleidoscope and Fall Fantasy.
Pictured with this article is a lovely painting of a child in a tree entitled, Well, Hello There. Also highlighted are wood creations by very talented craftspeople – a carving of three quail in a row running across a picket fence, a wooden pencil box with a ceramic tile focal piece and walnut candle holders with hammered copper inserts. All “wood” surely add a lovely touch to your home.
Other natural items to choose from include sets of paper gift boxes in the shape of purses, just incredible. A PebbleCreek author has a small book for sale with the intriguing title, The Little Tree That Cried. Also, take a look at the selection of cork key chains complete with charms. For the gamers among you, there are wooden card holders and also Domino holders.
Here’s something else to dangle before you – earrings long enough to whisk your shoulders, necklaces with pendants and bracelets to cluster on your arm. Try being self-indulgent this summer; it’s certain to keep you in your comfort zone.
Remember, if you are a hidden artisan and wish to participate in the December festival you must register with the Gallery as a consignor. Maybe test the waters this summer and place something for sale in the Gallery. Believe in your craft; you, too, can experience the thrill of the sale!
