Finally, after watching all the newscasts of bad weather everywhere but in the Creek, spring officially arrives on March 20. It’s time to refresh your wardrobes and home furnishings. Just march into the Creative Arts Center and explore all the possibilities.
There are amazing choices of wall art available for you to purchase. One of my favorites is captioned, The Original Snowbirds. It’s a lovely watercolor of a flock of birds in flight to a better climate. This is a piece that could travel with you as you shift residences every six months. A delightful collage is entitled, Without Music Life Would Bb (or, B flat if I had the right symbol on this keyboard). Perhaps you should check out The Muttcracker; you need to see this one. Two beautifully executed pastels are A Mother’s Love highlighting penguins and Colorful Arizona Critter, a lizard that truly looks appealing. To calm down if the lizard spooks you, gaze at the healing quality of an acrylic painting entitled, Step Stairs to Serenity. I think, judging by the titles of many pieces of art in the Gallery, our artists are also wordsmiths. Lastly, gaze at Tumacacori Mission an acrylic painting that appears to be three dimensional, but is skillfully painted to provide depth perception to a one dimensional work. Don’t touch, just look! And if you have time, head south of Tucson to see the real mission which dates back to the late 17th century.
This is the month for the wearing of the green. St. Patrick’s Day is March 17. I noticed several pieces of jewelry in beautiful shades of green. Of course, there are many other colorful pieces to choose from. Many of the PebbleCreek jewelry artists are just back from the annual Tucson Gem and Mineral Show (the largest in the world) so keep your eye out for fabulous new pieces in the coming weeks.
Something truly different and one of a kind are large original fiber clay sculptures. One is of a rabbit and the other a Kiwi Bird. These are truly statement pieces.
A paper artisan has crafted a selection of small paper gift bags appropriate for special occasions of “just because” gifts. They are the perfect wrap for a Gallery purchase.
Now, after browsing the Gallery, take a stroll through the halls and check out the lovely display windows of the various craft clubs. And, oh baby, all the way at far end on your left side is the widow highlighting Knimble Kneedles’ baby gifts. There are fabulous blankets, sweaters and sets available for sale through the Gallery. Knimble Kneedles is a charitable group of creative knitters and crochet crafters; 100% of the club’s profits are used to support west valley charities.
So, hurry on down to the Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop to browse, shop and dream. See you soon.
