My pal Rana Cukierski usually mans the Gallery desk on Monday afternoons while I’m at the Open Beading Club. When not helping you with your selections in the Gallery, she works her magic as an incredible colored pencil artist. Just check out the two photos attached to this article. Folks, these are not your adult coloring book pencils.
First is a drawing of paint brushes using colored pencils, while the mat is enhanced with splatters of watered down acrylic and a touch of additional colored pencil.
Second is a violin on a background of sheet music. What a tease this is. While the violin is a colored pencil drawing, the background is actual sheet music that Rana burned to make it look old and also enhanced with colored pencil to stoke the old and shadowy look.
Now to encourage the budding artist in you, once the Creative Arts Center is fully open there will be numerous classes to choose from, including colored pencil drawing!
Once reopened, you will find the Gallery staff very helpful in assisting you with your selections. Most are also gifted artisans in a variety of media. Work together to make your Gallery shopping spree a fun and successful event!
Meanwhile, happy Fourth of July everyone!
