Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop—May Day

Sherry Blatner

May Day is an ancient festival of spring. A great way to celebrate is at the Expressions Gallery!

I can hardly believe it, but this article marks five years of writing to persuade you to visit the Expressions Gallery and shop, shop, shop! If you haven’t made it into the gallery yet, now’s the time. The weather is beautiful, and the gallery is stocked with an amazing array of fine items to pique your interest. Maybe I should treat myself to a gift from the gallery.

There are some extraordinary pieces of wall art by new consignors, some are made from glass and others are of mosaic pieces. You owe it to yourself to stop in and admire the workmanship and appreciate the time and patience it takes to compose these works. Then visualize them hanging in your home. I have to warn you, the first three wall works were sold to a happy new homeowner almost immediately. Advice: If you see something you like, buy it right away!

If you’re expecting (only kidding) a new baby in the family, the selection of items for newborns and other small tykes is lovely. Also wander down the hall of the Creative Arts Center (home of the gallery) and browse the workmanship in the Knimble Kneedles window; everything there is for sale and profits support local charities.

Ladies, as the weather warms, you’ll be showing more skin, and you’ll certainly want to decorate yourself with a few new pieces of jewelry. Most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind and are made of complementing stones. For a cool look, check out the dozens of chain necklaces enhanced by special pendants. A fun way to adorn yourself is to stack multiple bracelets on your arms. Try mixing them yourself or choose a memory wire multi-wrap bracelet replete with numerous stones and colors. Gentlemen, don’t forget Mother’s Day; it’s on the 9th this year and a perfect time to visit the gallery for surprise gifts for those special ladies in your life.

The month ends with Memorial Day on the 31st, and if you’re planning a gathering of friends or family, the gallery is always a showcase for serving dishes and bowls in glass and ceramic. Or, if you’re going to be a guest at someone else’s celebration, think about a hostess gift.

If you are a repressed artist, keep an eye out for new classes held at the Creative Arts Center to begin or hone your talents. It’s how many at PebbleCreek began their artisan explorations. If you are new to PebbleCreek and thinking about selling your wares in the gallery, stop in and ask staff at the counter for a new artisan packet. It’s a simple process and will make your life here even more satisfying.
