Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop—Happy Fourth!

Sherry Blatner

Summer hours are now in effect: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to noon, and closed on Sunday. Masks are recommended, not required, and studios are open with no limit on attendees. We are getting closer to normal, but be respectful of those of us still masking up.

Oh, baby—it’s the Fourth of July! Bring out the red, white, and blue! Or, buy some if you need to create a bigger splash for yourself or your home.

The Gallery is stocked with items to enhance your holiday and your summer. Consignors were encouraged to produce items reflective of the holiday. If you have summer visitors, be sure to include them in a visit to the Gallery, it’s a gem in the Creek.

Coming soon to a Gallery near you, yarn bombing! I’m not being incendiary; this is for real. Google it. Such fun ideas!

The quilters have something new, lap-sized fidget quilts. Each quilt has activities for the restless hands of those with health issues—zippers to tug on, buttons to twirl. Staff informed me that they have seen fidget cuffs, either knit or crocheted, to be worn on one’s wrist, with bows and buttons to play with. I’m thinking of trying to put one together if it can calm someone down. Making it will keep me calm as the temps keep soaring!

Some wonderful items to enhance your summer meals—jeweled party picks, sets of fabric utensil holders, and bejeweled small utensils. Some decorative items for your home include small glass sun catchers to attach to your windows and heavy glass signs indicating: Beer is Good, Life is Good, and Be Kind!

For your youngest visitors, browse the selection of “think books” for kids. They highlight flaps to be lifted for counting, colors, and shapes; they are a beautiful souvenir of a visit to grandparents.

With temperatures rising, select from beaded chains to hold your sunglasses around your neck when you seek cool shelter indoors.

Once indoors, consider rearranging your wall art with a beautiful floral print painting, many to choose from and definitely refreshing.

So, for Canadians, enjoy Canada Day on the first and, for the rest of us, happy fourth!
