As promised in last month’s article, I’ve discovered the art of “Diamond Painting.” Look online at the multitude of kits that allow you to create paintings, coasters, purses, and so much more out of sparkling rhinestones. This is a skill that is quickly learned. You’ll “paint” images using wands to place colorful rhinestones onto sticky backers. The instructions for each set identify which color should be placed in which spot, and everything you’ll need is included in a kit. You’ll be an instant pro.
Even better, the Open Beading Club (a club with no membership fee!) will welcome you to its Monday afternoon meetings at 1 p.m. in the Creative Arts Center, where you can join other members who are already practicing the craft of bead painting! So, come on down and start making your holiday gifts now!
If you’re not feeling crafty at this time, stop in the Galley and check out the works of art done in Diamond Painting. The elephant “painting” pictured with this article is a wonderful creature to house in your home.
Important dates in September: Monday, Sept. 4 is Labor Day, and the Gallery and Creative Arts Center will be open. The Jewish New Year begins with the celebration of Rosh Hashanah the evening of Sept. 15 and culminates with Yom Kippur beginning at sundown on the 24th. The first day of autumn is Sept. 23—maybe it’s time to think about adding fall colors to your home and wardrobe. The Gallery is always the perfect place to shop for new serving dishes of all sizes for your home or that of a friend who may be hosting you.
Don’t let the heat keep you from an escape to the Expressions Gallery. The AC is working fine and the longer you visit, the “cooler” you’ll become.
