Expressions Gallery and Gift Shop—an August New Beginning?

Sherry Blatner

The Gallery may still be closed, but crafty and artisan neighbors have used the time wisely to enhance their skills and celebrate the arts in private.

This is a great time for crafters to envision new uses for their existing inventory of beads, yarn, paint, wood, fabric, and paper. The internet hosts a terrific number of free videos to learn something new in your craft and later sell it in the Gallery.

This month I’ll introduce you to the knit or crochet lapghan. The what? Yup, a lapghan is a small afghan meant to cover just your lap, great when curled up in front of the TV in a cool air-conditioned room. They are also very welcome by those confined to a wheelchair. Available in an astonishing array of colors and patterns, at some time in the future you’ll find one to fit your mood or décor in the Gallery. Right now, some are awaiting liberation from my great room chair!

Currently, several art clubs are meeting in the Creative Arts Center with members pre-registering to attend in limited numbers. Masks are required and social distancing is in practice. Everyone is looking forward to life in the good old days!

Stay well everyone!
