The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group provides a forum to share feelings, concerns, information and a way of supporting and encouraging each other. We welcome those who are caring for loved ones at home, in a care place or long distance.
The topic for our Saturday, October 18 meeting will be Estate Closure—What to do Before the Fact. We will be having Tisha M. Diffie from After the Fact-Final Affairs, LLC, address our group. This presentation will educate you on the top five mistakes when closing an estate and how to prevent them. You’ll take away valuable information that you will need to know when the critical time comes.
If you are a caregiver for a spouse, relative or friend, you probably will have to deal with things you have no idea about. You will have to make countless phone calls, deal with credit card companies, complete paperwork, wait in line at the bank and various other places, return rented equipment (think cable boxes, wheelchairs, etc.), stop junk mail and perhaps, even deal with identity theft. Sometimes this can be a two year process. Just because your loved one had estate documents doesn’t mean all the work is going to go away. It just means you won’t have to take the extended time and expense to get the necessary documents to take care of all the work.
Sometimes you can’t leave your loved ones at home so you might want to consider taking them to The Saturday Group. It provides respite care for those having Alzheimer’s disease and allows the caregivers the opportunity and peace of mind to attend the Caregiver’s Discussion Group. The group is run by two PebbleCreek volunteers who have experience with Alzheimer’s disease. They want to make this time away as comfortable and stress free as possible. They may be able to arrange someone to come to your house during the two hour meeting if attending this group is not an option. For this The Saturday Group or at-home visiting, it will be necessary to RSVP by Thursday, October 16.
Both groups meet simultaneously at different locations from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. For more detailed information please contact Rayma at 623-935-1819 or send email to [email protected].
