April 9 was a busy day on the tennis courts. Our end of the season play and social turned out to be the most active participation event since COVID-19 struck the community two years ago. We had over 60 competitive participants vying for the coveted prize of gift cards for the top players in each category. The day, once again, was a lovely sunny morning, though the temperature was a little on the sizzling side during active play. This didn’t stop several players from having their personal best morning. After the competition concluded, we were treated to a fabulous lunch under the shade trees at the Tuscany Falls Tennis Hut, hosted by Social Director Joan Patchin. This event was beautifully planned and implemented. The members enjoyed celebrating this final competitive event until fall with delightful conversations and enthusiastic applause for the top players.
Winners were: Michael Davis, Debbie Tighe, Robert Pinto, Susan Hunt, Rachel Hopps, Cliff Hopps, Jay Hayden, Michael Stepien, Mary Zanella, Mary McConaughey, Len Maitland, Dave Frederick, Pammy DeRouin, Carol Peterson, Randy Planck, Ann Lehman, Leanne Thompson, Troney Hutchins, Dan Tyryfter, Susie Malone, Norma Whitley, John O’Grady, John Russell, Vicki Carter, Nancy Adams, Chris Barlow, and Fred Barlow.
Competitive Events Coordinator Aquine Jackson relayed thanks to all board members, spouses, and the volunteers who have made the process run smoothly. We are all thankful for the wonderful volunteers in our club.
Our final event for the season, the Cinco de Mayo party occurred on May 5, as it should. The event took place at the Eagle’s Nest Sports Complex. The club members were treated to a delicious array of tacos, chips, fruit, salad, cookies, and adult beverages, along with the smooth sounds of John Flynn and his band. Members danced and sang until the sun set in all its splendor that evening.
The event would not have been so successful without all the volunteers who assisted in moving the tables and chairs to Eagle’s Nest, setting up, and returning to Tuscany Falls. The board is deeply grateful for all of you.
As the spring season ends and our unpredictable monsoons start, we send you all best wishes for a happy and safe summer. See you in the fall!
