No matter what you do for a living, if you do it with passion and take ownership of the job, you can take pride in your work and enjoy success. The goal is to own it and that is what our Employee of the Month Tony Garcia has done with the assignment of Floor Specialist in PebbleCreek Facilities. When the new position opened up, Tony asked for the position based on his years of experience maintaining floors in school districts floor programs. Facilities Manager Ken Sergio decided to give Tony a try and was pleasantly surprised.

Given the task to head the new floor maintenance program, Tony jumped in wholeheartedly to fully embrace the assignment. This is where he proved that no matter what you do, you can own the job and do it well. And, if you do the job the best way possible people will notice.

Ken observed Tony’s work refinishing floors at the Quail Creek Clubhouse bar and library and was impressed with his knowledge, skills and hard work and stunning results. “His work is the best of the best,” according to Ken. Tony’s coworkers applaud his work ethic and skills. Mary Enos, head of Housekeeping, states it has been a long time since she has encountered someone who is as dedicated and hard working as Tony.

Tony trained coworker Rito Rodriguez to assist him with the floor program. “Together the two of them are unstoppable,” exclaims Ken. “The two of them do hardwood floors, carpets, floor stripping, waxing and will refinish a floor with stain. Each type of flooring has its own methodology in proper maintenance and these gentlemen have mastered the skills of caring for each type of flooring,” explains Ken. “Tony has saved the community thousands of dollars with his hard work and can do attitude,” Ken adds.

“Tony is a big asset to the Facilities group and to the community,” states Ken. “I respect him and his work ethic and believe he sets a great example for his coworkers,” adds Ken. Tony believes that when you care about what you do it gives you more energy to do it better, which gives you more pride in what you’ve done, which gives you more energy to continue to do better. It’s like a cycle that keeps you motivated and passionate about your work. “All I know is that I could use 10 more of him,” laughs Ken!
