Burt Stratton
On August 27, the IRONMAN competition in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho was attempted by 1100 athletes of all ages. Eagle’s Nest resident Anne Stratton finished the race in 14 hours and 28 minutes, finishing third in the 60 to 64 age group. The IRONMAN consists of a 2.5 mile lake swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. Anne swam the 2.5 miles in one hour and 13 minutes. She then spent seven hours and ten minutes on the 112 mile bike course and finished the 26.2 mile running marathon in five hours and 45 minutes. 93 degree temperatures and a very hilly bike course made the event extra tough. This was Anne’s first IRONMAN and she looks forward to trying another.
