At its March meeting, the PebbleCreek Democratic Club was addressed by a number of Democratic candidates running for local elective offices.
Dani Sterbinsky is running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Congressional District 9. Dani is a U.S. Navy veteran and has a Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. “People want a system that works for them,” Dani said. “Congress needs to provide help for first-time home buyers, seniors on fixed incomes, and provide child care credits.”
Dr. Michael Butts is running to become Arizona’s Superintendent of Public Instruction. Dr. Butts is a former police officer, teacher, assistant principal, and elected school board member who received his Doctorate from Northern Arizona University.
Eric Stafford is running for a seat in the Arizona Senate. Eric favors increased state funding for Arizona’s public schools and hospitals and taking greater advantage of Arizona’s abundant solar resources.
Christine Scianna is running for a seat in the Arizona House of Representatives. Christine has been a teacher and science educator for 17 years and is an advocate for people with disabilities. Christine’s campaign manager, Lynn Pierce, explained that Christine’s priorities are the appropriate use of Arizona’s public education dollars, including voucher reform and teacher retention incentives.
Also in attendance were Donna Davis who is running for re-election to the Maricopa County Community College Governing Board and Keith Lara who is running for the LD 25 seat in the Arizona House.
