The PebbleCreek Democratic Club, at its November 4 meeting, featured a presentation by Professor Paul Bender, Dean Emeritus of the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law 2015. He led an engaging discussion on the recent U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on same sex marriage and other recent decisions of the Supreme Court.
Professor Bender teaches courses on U.S. and Arizona constitutional law. He has written extensively about constitutional law, intellectual property and Indian law and is coauthor of the two-volume casebook/treatise, Political and Civil Rights in the United States. Professor Bender has argued more than 20 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and actively participates in constitutional litigation in federal and state courts.
The presentation was done in an informal lecture format that included and encouraged audience participation. The discussion was lively and informative. The club plans on inviting Professor Bender back in the near future.
