Several members of PebbleCreek (PC) Democratic Club joined the Just Folks Club and others on Jan. 20 to celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. There were 115 attendees. The celebration breakfast was centered around the theme “Where do we go from here? Community or chaos.” Each speaker emphasized the need for unity in our purpose to love and care for one another, concern for our nation, providing tangible ways to build, not succumbing to disappointment, discouragement, and despair and to look and move forward. Attendees were also treated to performances of dance and song.
The PC Democratic Club is proud to support the work of Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy and also celebrated this February as Black History Month. We thank the Just Folks Club for organizing such a touching and joyful breakfast celebration.
The Democratic Club has also increased its support of local charities that help the less fortunate in Arizona. In 2024, club members donated 2,125 pounds of clothes and household items to several charities including Hope’s Closet, Dress for Success, and the Agua Fria Food Bank. In November our tireless organizers Ross and Judy Hart were able to facilitate the transfer of a large amount of furniture from a donor to a formerly homeless woman who had just acquired an apartment. Two couches, a TV, a coffee table, end tables, and lamps are now residing in her new home. Thank you Ross and Judy!
In addition, for the new school year, club members donated 228 pounds of school supplies to Lattie Coor Primary School and 98 pounds of school supplies to Agua Fria HS’s “Owl Closet.” In addition, 69 pounds of clothing was also sent to the high school. Finally, a total of $475 was collected to be distributed to various charities.
The club will continue to support these worthy causes throughout 2025. The Harts will accept donations any time and there will be specific drives at our meetings throughout the year. Anyone can donate!
The PebbleCreek Democratic Club meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Our meetings are open and all are welcome. Social hour starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7 p.m.
