Democratic Club Looks Forward to Fall

The PebbleCreek (PC) Democratic Club is excited about their fall program that commences on Wednesday, Sept. 6. (See following details.)

2024 is an election year, and already prospective candidates are lining up to run for Arizona districts. PebbleCreek is in CD9, a large district that encompasses most of western Arizona. The PC Democratic Club is looking forward to hosting as many of these candidates as possible in the coming months.

At the September club meeting, three candidates running to be the Democratic opposition to Republican Paul Gosar who ran unopposed in CD9 in 2022, will be in attendance to share their vision for the district and our state.

The three candidates are Brandon Donnelly, David Lucier, and Dr. Quacy Smith.

Brandon Donnelly is an ex-Marine who currently works as an event planner and logistics coordinator. His platform includes support for LGBTQIA+ matters, nationwide healthcare, an overhaul of the education system, and supporting women’s rights.

David Lucier has an extensive military background and is a tireless advocate for veterans. He served as a Green Beret in the Vietnam War and was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in 2009. Mr. Lucier has championed several initiatives in our state to benefit veterans and is currently the chairman of the Maricopa County Democratic Party.

Dr. Quacy Smith is the senior pastor of Grace Unlimited churches in San Diego and Phoenix, a lawyer, and an author. He served in the Marines and as a POST certified peace officer in the state of California and as a federal investigator.

These three candidates will have an opportunity to share their concerns and solutions for Arizona and will take questions from attendees. It is not too early to begin exploring the options for the 2024 election as many important issues are at stake for both Arizona and our country as a whole.

In October the PC Democratic Club will welcome the return of Adrian Fontes, now Arizona Secretary of State. Secretary Fontes has been a favorite speaker at the club for several years, and we are happy to have him find time in his busy schedule to come and speak with us again. It should be noted that Secretary Fontes has become, in recent times, a popular interviewee on cable news stations such as CNN and MSNBC as well as for local stations. He has also been featured in Time Magazine and national newspapers like The Guardian and the New York Times.

Our Democratic Club meetings at PebbleCreek are always open to everyone who is interested in both local and national politics and the future of our state.

The September meeting will be held Sept. 6 in the Tuscany Falls Ballroom. Social hour begins at 6 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. More details are on the website, www.pcdemclub.org.
