For golfers at all skill levels, arguably nothing more can create the sudden flow of adrenaline and sheer excitement than the thrill of driving the ball from the tee and seeing the ball approach the hole and then likely disappear into the hole. For the vast majority of us, we may come close but the true hole in one achievement remains elusive as ever and just a few of us in our lifetime will ever live to see a hole-in-one as a personal true golfing achievement of epic proportions.

At the beginning of this current year, our now current PCM9GA President, Ray Clements, organized a Hole-in-One Committee which enabled all interested PCM9GA golfers to contribute a nominal sum to be entered in a fund which would provide cash awards for any PCM9GA golfers that would attain the ultimate Hole-in-One achievement. Sure enough, on May 1 at the weekly PCM9GA event at Eagle’s Nest, David Gasch is to be congratulated for achieving the unthinkably rare hole-in-one on hole 17 at Eagle’s Nest.

As Dave Gasch quite humbly relates, he utilized a No. 8 iron for this 135 yard hole from the white tee box and his primary goal was to get the ball on the green and maybe or perhaps just maybe come close enough to the hole to win the Closest to the Pin award on that date. (David has won several recent Hole-in-One PCM9GA awards). Dave describes he executed a straight drive which appeared too short to make the green, but then continued to roll towards the green then onto the green and then disappeared. From 135 yards away, Dave jumped up with sheer excitement although his joy may have been momentarily tempered by at least one member of his foursome which perhaps may cast some fleeting doubt that it entered the hole. Sure enough when approaching the hole, Dave’s Nike golf ball was indeed definitely in the hole and the sheer excitement and joy of the Hole-in-One event prevailed.

While less than a handful of all PebbleCreek golfers come up with hole-in-ones each year, rest assured that each and every week our PCM9GA golfers truly simply have a ball. All interested golfers are urged to join our exciting and fun loving club which welcomes golfers at all skill levels. The annual $50 cost includes dues for the AGA membership which is essential for handicap reporting.
