The PebbleCreek Pickleball Club has been truly fortunate with two new members, Dave and Becky Trimble. Dave has stepped in and has become very involved in teaching our beginner and above pickleball classes.
Before relocating to PebbleCreek, they first visited a Robson property in Denton, Texas, about 45 miles away from Frisco, Texas, where they lived in 2014, and on a whim decided to visit PebbleCreek and SaddleBrooke Ranch in December 2015. “We weren’t ready to buy, just looking, but loved PC. We came back three years later to see if we still liked it—oh yeah! Finally, in October 2020, we took our last visit and found our home. We moved everything over Thanksgiving break and drove up to our new home on Dec. 30, 2020. The rest is history. Beck and I just love it here! We wouldn’t change a thing.”
Dave met Becky at Tonopah Test Range in Nevada while working on a top-secret project with the F-117 stealth fighter planes. They were reassigned to Homestead Air Force Base in Florida, where they were married in 1992. He was then asked to join The Thunderbirds, so back to Las Vegas they went. Dave retired from the Air Force in May 2001. After that, he and Becky taught elementary physical education and music for about 20 years in Las Vegas and Texas before retiring in December 2020.
While teaching in Frisco, Texas, “Coach Trimble” formed a jump rope performance team called the Rockin’ Ropers. It was made up of students from Ashley Elementary School. The Rockin Ropers became the pride of the community, and they performed at many venues across Texas and Oklahoma including halftime shows at Texas A&M, Oklahoma University, Baylor University, TCU, SMU, as well as the Dallas Mavericks. The team made appearances on the Mavs Insider, ESPN, North Texas TV, and performed in front of former President George W. Bush.
A common thread throughout Dave’s career is, “he wants his students to set goals for themselves. He also wants them to have fun while learning and developing life skills.” Those goals are a great example of how he dedicates four to five days a week toward helping and coaching our pickleball players to learn new skills and start playing better. Dave teaches novice A and B players and men’s and women’s 3.0 and 3.5 classes, in addition to helping out with the skills class on Sundays. Dave says that “teaching isn’t money-driven, it is accomplishment driven. The more our students accomplish, the better we all feel.”
His pickleball students would agree—they consistently say, “Dave is one of the best instructors. I learned so much from him.”
In addition to Dave and Becky being avid pickleball players, Becky is also active in music groups at PebbleCreek. She is the lead singer in the PebbleCreek’s 18-piece big band and our happy hours bands.
The Pickleball Club would like to thank Dave for all his dedication to our club and its members! He is truly making our Pickleball Club one of the best in the U.S.
