News update—-Tuesday, October 4 – 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. – Tuscany Clubhouse Capri Room
PC High Holidays Club continues with our new program affectionately called Chai High. The residents of PebbleCreek will be treated to yet another monthly higher learning session about Jewish history, language, Hebrew reading, Holocaust lectures, movies and other interesting topics.
Our opening lecture on October 4 is most exciting. Debbie Wohl Isard, our speaker, is the editor of La Granada. This is an online connection for the Crypto Judaic Jews. She originates from Philadelphia with Ashkenazi traditions but she seeks out Sephardic connections.
Debbie will discuss the Jewish descendants who escaped during the era of the Spanish Inquisition. These people thought that they were leaving persecution, but the trip to the New World forced them to remain hidden. Descendants of these people today are known as Crypto-Jews. Five hundred plus years later, many of them have no idea that they are of Jewish Ancestry.
So—come and join our club for this premier lecture (at no charge). You will learn about our Jewish history. There will be many surprising revelations as well as insights. The floor will be open for questions after the lecture. Please email Brenda Hyman at [email protected] for sign up. Each email will be time-stamped and once capacity is reached (40 guests) you will be wait-listed.
Mark your calendars for the additional dates in the coming months:
Tuesday: November 1, December 5, January 3, 2017, February 7,March 7 and April 22 (Yom Hashoah observance); Capri Room/Tuscany Clubhouse at 7:00 p.m.
We guarantee an exciting and educational program each and every time. Looking forward to seeing you in October and at all the other lectures. Topic subjects will appear in the PebbleCreek Post as well as on flyer posted on our bulletin boards monthly.)
Shalom!
