Jeff Wilson
The Pottery/Sculpture Club featured artist for August is Cheryl Tiffany. Cheryl was born into a military family so has lived in several states and Guam and France before ending up in Washington State in 1962.
During the next 50 years she married, divorced, got an AA degree in accounting, taught country/western dancing, traveled, bought a house and discovered a love of gardening that soon took over her life. She says, “Gardening was my creative outlet.” But she didn’t just plant a few flowers. She designed actual garden rooms with doors and windows, art and living furniture, ponds and water features. She also raised ting green tree frogs whose spring mating calls produced beautiful music. A desire for a simpler life and a need to pursue other artistic endeavors led Cheryl to move to AZ a year ago.
The Creative Arts Center is what drew her to PebbleCreek. She started with fused glass, tried her hand at abstract painting, stained glass, beading and jewelry design, then she took Jeff Wilson’s pottery class Wow! A new passion was born! Cheryl said, “I wish I had tried pottery first, I could have saved so much money and supply space.”
Cheryl likes to combine her clay sculptures with leather, metal, wood, fiber, beads, feathers and other found objects.
Cheryl’s amazing art work will be on display for the month of August in the display cases outside the pottery room in the Creative Arts Center.
New pottery classes will be starting in September. Sign up now in the Expressions Gallery and be a part of the fun.
