“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” it is said, and ceramicist Judy Gallob has created many beautiful objects in her nearly 10 years as a member of the Ceramics Club of PebbleCreek.
After a 2015 move from Cave Creek, Judy and her husband settled into their new routine that led Judy to the Arts Center Ceramics Club. She has found a supportive environment for her artistic expression encouraged by ceramics instructors and inspired through the work of others. She has made many gifts for friends and family and saves others for her own gallery.
Judy prefers working on larger pieces due to a shaking in her hands, but you would never see any drawback with the pieces she has completed. One exquisite example are the Magi statues she finished. They began as greenware that requires careful cleaning before being fired. After initial firing, Judy painted them with metallic paint to give them their luster.
Similarly, Judy did a green plant pot with “envision” paint that “breaks” filling into the contours leaving highlights on raised parts. She often says “let the paint do the work” to obtain that shiny finish she prefers. There are many techniques Judy enjoys exploring with the help of our gifted teachers. She encourages any who are curious to stop by the ceramic studio to see all the fun possibilities that are available.
