The Ceramics Club of PebbleCreek (CCPC) is lucky to have Linda Galowitch as an accomplished and knowledgeable teacher. She discovered ceramics in a class in high school. Her love of ceramics was rekindled when she and her husband moved from Illinois to PebbleCreek 21 years ago. Jim Lee started the first ceramics classes at PebbleCreek. Jim was instrumental in starting the CCPC in the kitchen at Eagle’s Nest. Linda began taking classes from him. When the Eagle’s Nest restaurant opened, ceramics classes were moved to another building.
Linda has held many positions over the years on the Ceramics Club board, including twice as president. As president, Linda hired Kelli Frederickson, a certified ceramics instructor. Kelli talked Linda into attending a David Hoff class. Linda so enjoyed the class that she took many more, including a five-day class in Las Vegas. When Sharon Pelikan retired from teaching ceramics classes, Linda decided to become a certified ceramics instructor and began teaching ceramics classes in October 2020.
Linda is well versed in many techniques and enjoys the variety of using them all. She enjoys watching the piece come together. Linda loves creating a variety of plates, and many of her designs show lovely flowers. She displays seven of her plates above her cabinets in her kitchen. When she tires of looking at those seven plates, she rotates other plates from her collection.
Linda is currently working on the last two of 12 bowls with handles in support of a local charity, Empty Bowls, which sells donated ceramics and uses the proceeds to feed the hungry. All the bowls are unique and are donated by a variety of artists. Linda loves and is dedicated to the CCPC and the people involved. This, for Linda, “makes life worthwhile.”
