Janet Vine did a fabulous job decorating our Christmas in July window. Janet says she only put out all the wonderful work from Ceramics Club members. Really, she arranged the window with charm and panache. She used her unbounded creativity to highlight the work of other members. We thank you, Janet, for doing such a great job!
Janet and her husband moved to PebbleCreek a year ago from Colorado. She’s been involved in art since high school, when she began painting. While she raised her family, there wasn’t much time or room for her to paint. She never stopped creating, though. She did some crocheting and did silk floral design. Janet had worked in a ceramics shop in Colorado one day a week. She’d invite her friends to join her and drink some wine, making it a wonderful and fun experience for all.
Here in PebbleCreek, she started painting large rocks, and then met Pam Kostakos, the Ceramics Club of PebbleCreek president, and the rest is history. She was off and creating many, many different ceramics projects. She says it keeps her busy and happy, and she has so much fun. Janet makes most of her art for other people, and she personalizes it to make it meaningful to the recipient. She has worked on many types of projects, from critters to Mexican pottery. Her work welcomes everyone as they enter her home. Kelli, one of our gifted ceramics instructors, was very helpful to Janet in guiding her in new techniques.
Janet recently spent “a lot of money” buying greenware, and she is busy working away at those projects. She buys her pieces, then waits for each piece to tell her what it wants to be. She is always busy. She’s happy to have a grown family that supports her and allows her time to work on her art. She does miss her 12 grandchildren, and she’s happy to be living the dream in PebbleCreek.
