All it took was a visit to friends in PebbleCreek to get Rhoda Moore to start planning for a possible move from her long-term home in Northern California. To see if it was a good fit—and to determine if she could handle Arizona summers—she rented a home in June 2022. By Dec. 21, 2022, she had closed on her home in PebbleCreek.
Rhoda had been an international flight attendant with Delta Airlines for 42 years before accepting a retirement package during the pandemic. As a widow, it was imperative she find a new home in a community that could offer what she was seeking: entertainment options, great people, safety, and (what else?) ceramics. Rhoda was engaged with ceramics in the 1980s and looked forward to renewing her passion for the creative nature of the craft. She attended one of the Ceramic Introduction classes and joined the club immediately. Since then she has rapidly expanded her knowledge, experimenting with different mediums and capturing her creativity. She is now the “broken greenware doctor,” fixing pieces for other members and is a buyer for greenware pieces. It is fitting that she has been named Artist of the Month for December/January.
Rhoda raised two sons, both of whom still live in California, along with three precious young grandchildren. In October, she experienced her first Mediterranean cruise, starting in Venice and ending in Athens (a city she visited many times as a flight attendant). Her roommate, Lilly the dog, keeps Rhoda fit with daily walks and companionship.
