Celebrating World Tai Chi Day

Carol Kirkwood

PebbleCreekers in Tai Chi and Stillness in Motion classes with Charlie joined other community members at the Sahuaro Ranch Park on April 28 to celebrate World Tai Chi and Qigong Day. This annual April event is held on the last Saturday in April and is open to the general public. It begins in the earliest time zones of Samoa at 10 a.m., and then participants across the globe take part. Celebrations occur in 80 nations and several hundred cities around the world.

One of World Tai Chi and Qigong Day’s primary objectives is to educate people about emerging medical research revealing health benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong. The event also hopes to provide a global vision of cooperation for health and healing purposes across geopolitical boundaries and appeal to people worldwide to embrace wisdom from all cultures of the world.

This area event was organized by PebbleCreek fitness instructor Charlie Gill, who heads the Southwest Center for Taoist Studies. The next World Tai Chi day takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Mark your calendars and watch for reminders. In the meantime, Tai Chi and Stillness in Motion (Qi Gong) classes with Charlie are available to PebbleCreek residents on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 a.m. at the fitness center. Come join us and feel better!
