In 2004, Grover Lumbard started PebbleCreek Pickleball with four courts on the Eagle’s Nest side. We can thank him and many others for bringing the sport to our community, bringing joy to thousands.
Beth Kelly, PebbleCreek Pickleball’s club historian, can tell you a lot about the club’s early days. Her chronicling of the evolution of the club is incredible. She maintains records in a huge binder that will show how the club began. The records show the ups and downs and the dedication of passionate players to share their love of the game.
In 2016, Pebble Creek Pickleball club held its first annual tournament. Mark Clark was the tournament director; there were 404 participants. The residents and the public embraced it, the hospitality was phenomenal.
Fast forward a decade to the 2026 Pebble Creek Pickleball Club tournament. You’ll see the tradition continues, a well-run tournament led by tournament director, Mike Crabtree, and his legion of steadfast volunteers.
Today, the event sponsors play a substantial role in the success of the tournament. Their financial commitments and support enable the club to represent the PebbleCreek community in the finest way. Thank a sponsor; let them know their contribution is worthwhile.
Finally, sign up to play in the tournament. If that is not a possibility, come and support a player or our vendors. There will be a vendor market with fun pickleball-related merchandise. There will also be a silent auction for an amazing African Photo Safari!
All tournament play will happen at the Central courts, near the Creative Arts Center. Parking is limited, walking or biking is encouraged.
