The PebbleCreek Woodcarvers are stepping away from convention and naming a group as carver of the month. As shown in the photo, the Woodcarving Club has carved a chess set out of golf balls. At the time the project was initiated it was envisioned as a fundraiser for the Creative Arts Center (CAC) Renovation Project. The project has morphed into a fundraiser for the Woodcarving Club and will be raffled off in the coming months.
The project was dreamed up by Lyle Chrisman, Joel Hawkins, and Tom Wick. Lyle prepared the golf balls, and Tom Wick and Joel Hawkins built the chess board. In the end nine club members contributed to the completion of the project. Most were carvers of the individual chess pieces, and Tom Wick provided the finishing touch by painting the pieces. Shown in the photo are, back row, Jane Peacock and Elaine Rajeski, front row, Jeannette McElroy, Del Trost, and Kathy Stauffer. Not shown in the photo, but possibly represented by some of the chess pieces are Tom Wick, Lyle Chrisman, Joel Hawkins, and Chuck Schuldt. Please join the club in congratulating this group on a worthy and fun project.
Raffle tickets will be available at various PebbleCreek events and in the Quail Room at the Creative Arts Center. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Stop in and pick up a handful of tickets for this fun project.
