You’ve heard the saying, “Anyone can put together an event, but it’s really the people that attend who turn it into a success.” And according to Kathy Aalto, the Cards 4 Courts organizer and planner, this event was a big success. All in attendance had fun at the 2nd Annual Cards 4 Courts fundraising event on March 29 at PebbleCreek. The event raised $2,000 for the new pickleball courts with 24 game tables and 104 players in attendance. Each table played their game of choice, which included 5 Crowns; Hand, Knee & Foot; Samba; plus one large table of rowdy and fun lady poker players.
The surprise of the evening was the intermission entertainment provided by some of the pickleball club’s best and funniest players. The cast of characters turned the dance floor at Tuscany Ballroom into a frenzied pickleball game. Bob Phillip had his hands full as the game referee in his Wild West bucking bronco costume. Players were Steve and Martha Urbin as T-Rex dinosaurs, Doug Adair as a purple pteranodon, Lori Adair as a blue dinosaur, Rich and Dee Rochel as aliens from outer space, and last, but certainly not least, Cookie Kuk as a blue dinosaur and Sherri Kuk as a blue unicorn.
A huge thank you to Kathy Aalto for her tireless efforts in providing fun and entertainment and in raising money for the new pickleball courts. She brings so much joy to all of us. Be sure to give her a big thank you when you see her at the courts.
