At its Jan. 7 meeting approximately 150 members of the PebbleCreek Democratic Club were addressed by Nick Mansour, a Democrat running to be Arizona’s next State Treasurer. Arizona’s Treasurer oversees more than $31 billion in assets, including $8.7 billion in education endowment funds.
Mansour is a native of Tucson, Ariz., and has most recently served as Chairman of the Arizona College of Nursing, which grew under his leadership to 24 campuses across 14 states. He hopes to bring a business perspective to the operation of the State Treasurer’s Office.
Mansour’s primary goal as State Treasure would be to improve the return upon Arizona’s nearly $10 billion Educational Endowment Fund.
“If invested wisely, Arizona’s Educational Endowment Fund could be earning $200 million more per year. The current investment strategy has denied the State of Arizona’s Educational Endowment Fund potential earnings of almost $3 billion over the last 12 years,” Mansour said.
Mansour also wants to help clean up waste and fraud in the Arizona educational voucher program.
Mansour noted that he knows how to attract investment, grow responsibly, and create good-paying jobs—and he wants to bring that experience to ensure Arizona’s growth benefits all Arizonans.
In his address, he noted that he is a problem-solver, not a politician. Mansour summarized his campaign that he is running to modernize the Treasurer’s Office, empower local governments, root out fraud and abuse, and help build an economy that works for everyone—business owners, working families, and the next generation of Arizonans.
The PebbleCreek Democratic Club also elected its officers for 2026. Vicki Barber (President), John Moore (Vice President), Tammy Dana-Bashian (Treasurer), Alisa Moore (Secretary), and Barbara McMahon (Member at Large) were elected.
