The photo of the month for March is a great example of portrait photography utilizing artificial lighting. At the January meeting the club had as its guest speaker, Collin Murray, a professional photographer from Arizona who has presented at the club in the past. For January, he taught us all about how to do great portrait photography. He brought lights, stands, backdrops, and camera triggers, which was a lot of work for him (but he also offered tips relative to utilizing inexpensive materials and accessories). He showed us how to set up our cameras and then let club members do the shooting. Several volunteers acted as “models” and many members took advantage of the setup and went to work. The results were stunning, and each of us felt like we had elevated our ability to new levels. The picture shown is a great shot of a club volunteer “model” taken by a club member who had never tried portrait photography before.
