Camera Club Photo of the Month

“Surprise Visitor” by Lynn Warren … a colorful photo of a hummingbird checking out the blossoms on a tall agave along the trail at West Clear Creek (near Camp Verde) on a July hike; photo was taken with his trusty Canon SX720 pocket camera.

The November Photo of the Month is a colorful photo taken by club member Lynn Warren. As everyone remembers, the summer was extremely hot and so several members of the Hiking Club conducted one of their favorite hikes at West Clear Creek near Camp Verde. In addition to being cooler, the area is very scenic and the group saw several “century plants” (agave) which had tall stalks with colorful blooms. Lynn was fortunate to capture the photo while a hummingbird was checking out the blossoms; hummingbirds move quickly and don’t stick around for pictures so luckily he got the picture on the first attempt with his Canon pocket camera, again emphasizing that the best camera is the one you have with you.
