For October’s Photo of the Month, the Camera Club selected a dramatic close-up of a bear with his salmon snack taken by club member Adriana Griesman while visiting Lake Clark National Park and Preserve, southwest of Anchorage, on a recent photography trip to Alaska. Apparently, the bear was a little late for dinner and had to work harder to actually catch a salmon since fewer salmon were running, but finally was successful after a couple of hours of effort. After running away with his prize and enjoying a nutritious snack, he returned to try his luck again. If you follow the news, you see frequent incidents where tourists are injured because they get too close to wildlife. However, this wasn’t a problem for Adriana since she used a 400 mm telephoto lens so that she could capture the image from a safe distance.
