Calling All Sugar Plum Fairies

A sugar plum fairy is a symbol of holiday splendor, hope, and childhood dreams. For the last four years, Sheri Sears and Chris Morlan (our resident sugar plum fairies) have been raising money for children in need; their goal was finding a way to include more children every year. Now they have teamed up with a local organization, Helping Others Together (HOT) Community Foundation that builds on their dreams of helping hundreds of families during the Christmas holidays! Sheri is so excited about what HOT provides that she became a member of their board of directors.

HOT is a registered 501(c)(3) Arizona nonprofit and an Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization that provides hope and help to struggling children in the West Valley. Through HOT’s Sugar Plum Fairies program, they create magical Christmases by providing wrapped gifts of clothing, hygiene essentials, toys for the children, and grocery gift cards for the families.

How are the children selected?

HOT teams with local school districts and other civic organizations to identify children who need help the most. One hundred percent of the children selected will qualify under the Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization (QCO) requirements. Through their fundraising efforts, HOT will be able to create a magical Christmas for 250+ children and their families this year.

How can you help?

Make it Christmas in July! Consider a donation to HOT’s Sugar Plum Fairies program and ignite the light in a child’s eyes this holiday. HOT is a 100% volunteer organization, so you could also volunteer your time! HOT is always looking for volunteers, and this fall will be needing shoppers, bakers, gift wrappers, stocking stuffers, decorators, gift presenters, and many other functions.

If your club would like to get involved, like the PebbleCreek Sewing Club that will be making Christmas stockings for the children this year, please contact Sheri at [email protected].
