Buckeye Legends Defeat PCBC in an 8-Ball Shootout

Dan Harris, travel team coordinator

On Oct. 22, the PebbleCreek Billiards Club (PCBC) welcomed the Buckeye Legends (BL) back for an 8-ball showdown at PebbleCreek’s Salerno Billiards Room. Unlike last month’s tightly contested matches, BL arrived this time with razor sharp precision, sweeping PCBC in a one-sided victory that left the home team reeling.

The first match featured a one-on-one 8-ball series, with each of PCBC’s four players facing BL’s four players twice, totaling 32 games. The Legends seized control early and clinched a decisive 19-13 victory. PCBC’s Rene Lefebvre shone brightly, battling through fatigue after arriving at the Billiards Room at 6 a.m., to win five of his eight games. However, BL’s Joe Frederico stole the spotlight, dominating all players with six wins out of eight.

The second match shifted to a ranked head-to-head format, pairing players based on their first-match performances for four standard 8-ball games. The Legends jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back, securing an 11-5 victory. PCBC’s Lefebvre, possibly drained from his early start, struggled against Frederico, dropping all four games. Mike Finnegan and Dan Harris led PCBC’s effort here, each claiming two wins out of four.

The lively, competitive spirit fostered camaraderie between the clubs, with both teams already looking forward to next month’s rematch.
