Bringing Broadway Home: Triad Performing Arts Elevates West Valley Culture

Goodyear business owners Brian and Kat Honsberger believe that West Valley residents deserve quality performing arts without needing to travel to Phoenix, Tempe, or beyond. Ballet, musicals, opera, and contemporary dance should be part of the local community’s cultural landscape.

To address this need, the Honsbergers founded Triad Performing Arts of Arizona, a nonprofit committed to offering high-quality performing arts opportunities in the West Valley. Now in its fifth year, Triad is preparing for its first Broadway production, Seussical™, which will be performed at the PebbleCreek Theater over Mother’s Day weekend.

“This community is absolutely incredible,” Kat said. “Just seeing our shows over the past five years proves how needed Triad is. We’ve had over 100 kids and adults auditioning for performances.”

The Honsbergers emphasize the abundance of local talent waiting for opportunities to shine, paired with experienced instructors to guide them. Kat serves as Triad’s artistic director, while Brian is the nonprofit’s president. Beyond Triad, the couple owns Kat’s Artist Tree, a European-inspired Music and Arts Academy. Located in Goodyear, the studio has been growing steadily for 12 years, with hundreds of students enrolled.

Triad’s productions have become a cornerstone of community life, uniting participants across generations. Imagine a cast ranging from 4-year-olds to over-60s, all sharing a stage and creating unforgettable moments. Last year’s holiday show brought together more than 100 actors and dancers, hosted right here in PebbleCreek. The performances included four sold-out shows for the public and a special preview for cancer patients from a local hospital—a touching testament to Triad’s community-first approach.

“That may be the most valuable thing for the people involved in the shows,” Brian said. “It’s the sense of community that has sprung from the work we’re doing.”

Looking ahead, the Honsbergers dream of partnering with West Valley cities to build a professional-grade performing arts center, completing the region’s cultural offerings. “The last component of a complete cultural experience in the West Valley is performing arts,” Brian said.

Triad is making strides toward this dream, and its impact is already evident. For more information about Triad Performing Arts and how you can support their mission, visit triadaz.org.
