Rayma Scalzo
We are pleased to have Veronica Santarelli speak to our Breast Cancer Discussion Group on April 25 at 10:00 a.m. She is the Chief Strategy Officer for Grassp, a Medical Marijuana delivery service which caters to the medical community and serves the entire Phoenix Valley. Besides just delivering medicine, her company provides science-based education and dosing recommendations to patients, ensuring they get healthy (not high) and choose the right products for their medical needs.
In 2016, she worked with researchers at UCLA Health, to help conduct a scientific case study, learning how patients are using cannabis for their medical needs and she has helped shape the Cannabis Policy on a national level, ensuring patients have safe access to cannabinoid therapeutics like the ones that can be found at https://mykush.ca/.
Since moving to Phoenix, she has helped Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing Communities create sensible policies for residents, ensuring seniors have access to this safer alternative for pain management. One of her goals is to help normalize cannabis use and allow science to replace existing stigma, as a lot of people may still get judged for taking cannabis to aid with their pain management, even though it has been known to work. There are even more ways in which you can take these products, (Visit this website to find out more about these alternative methods). And this is just one of the reasons why she is working to help replace the stigma that people have regarding cannabis.
Her presentation will include:
1. The difference between THC and CBD
2. A review of published scientific research on the following topics: The antitumor properties of cannabis, the potential for cannabis to prevent metastasizing of cancer cells, how THC and CBD help protect healthy cells, while making cancer cells more susceptible to radiation.
3. How Medical Marijuana can help with symptom relief from cancer and chemo/radiation.
4. How to get certified for legal access to Medical Cannabis.
5. Costs of getting a Medical Marijuana Card and the cost of medicine on a monthly basis.
If you have just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer or are a long-term survivor, we would encourage you to join us for this informative talk. After her presentation, members spend the next hour sharing concerns and learn from others who have gone through this Breast Cancer journey. Many of us go to lunch at Toscana?s following the meeting so please plan on joining us for that too.
A special gift may be waiting for you!
It is so important that we hear from any residents who have treatment pending as we have a special pillow, made by the PebbleCreek Quilters, that we would like to give to you. Those who have used the pillows say they offer so much comfort immediately following surgery or reconstruction. If you call us, we want you to know the conversation will be kept confidential. You do not have to become a member of our discussion group to receive one so please don?t miss out on this wonderful gift. A special thanks to the quilters for making this gift possible.
