Ken Minichiello
Thank you, Shelly and David Carnevale, for organizing this fun bowling tournament. Held at the fantastic UpTown Alleys Sports and Recreation facility in Surprise, it was a perfect venue for both bowlers and non-bowlers to have a great time. The Carnevale’s organized the event so that winning was not only based on high scores but also on the number of spares and strikes a person received as well. In addition, the Carnevale’s cleverly incorporated a poker game into this bowling tournament by giving playing cards to every person getting spares or strikes. At the end of the tournament, the person with the best poker hand also won a trophy.
Most of the people bowling hadn’t bowled in many years so expectations were not very high. Every spare and strike were exciting and cause for celebration! Cheering players on were Jodie Heinz, Cindy Zaklan, and David Carnevale along with the added duties of keeping track of the spares and strikes for the award of fun trophies. Add wine, beer, and hot appetizers, and you have the ingrediencies for a real fun time.
Players receiving trophies for most points, spares and strikes as well as best poker hand were Frank and Peggy Lemmo, Ken Hacker and Dennis “Zak” Zaklan. However, in the end, no one ended up a looser because of all the cheering that a player received when he or she got a spare or strike during the tournament! As a result, this definitely is an event to be considered for next year!
