Where does the time go? Happy 2020 everyone.

If you haven’t already made your team reservation for the Jan. 5 meeting/potluck, time is running out. There is only room for 310 people—31 tables of ten. Contact Mary Ann Bose at [email protected] or 602-478-8747 to sign up and for more information.

Also at the Jan. 5 meeting, the new bocce board will be installed. As of Jan. 5, your bocce board will be: president, Tom Bose; vice president, Bill Gavin; secretary, Patsy Wagner; treasurer, John Harguindeguy; statistician, Mary Ann Bose; registrar, Angela Petter; and public relations, Carolyn Rota.

Prior to the winter league starting on Tuesday, Jan. 7, there will be a Bocce Clinic held on Monday, Jan. 6, at 9 a.m. at the bocce courts. All members, new or seasoned, are welcome to come—no registration is necessary.

Keep in mind that registration for the spring leagues will be available on Feb. 1, and will be done online at www.Quickscores.com/pebblecreekbocce. There, you will find schedules, registration forms, team’s information, waivers, all the by-laws, and rules and regulations. If you have any questions, contact Tom Bose at 602-478-8747 or [email protected], or Angela Petter at 623-215-3416 or [email protected]. If you have more questions a board member will be at the EN Kiosk on Monday, Feb. 17 and Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 8 to 10 a.m.

Before ending this bocce news, I want to say, on behalf of all the bocce members, a very big thank you to our outgoing bocce board members. We have four members of the board leaving.

Carol Gwilt has been our statistician for eight years. She has been on the board from 2012 to 2019. It was Carol who made sure that each week we knew where we stood in the standings. Carol, you have shown what excellence is all about. It means doing your very best in everything, in every way, which is what you have done every day. Thank you, Carol, for a job well done.

Behind every successful club there is that one person that keeps all that is written together, and for us her name is Gail Davidson. After serving on the board from 2016 to 2019 as secretary, Gail will retire her pen and paper. Gail was in charge of transcribing all the minutes of every board, captain’s, and member’s meetings, as well as when changes were made to the rules and by-laws. Gail, thank you for all your hard work and late nights. Great job.

Many of us remember Mollie, our treasurer. Sadly, she passed away, and Tom Snyder graciously volunteered to take over in 2019. Tom did a wonderful job and spent many days and nights making sure the banking statements were in order. He also checked with the HOA about our insurance and who is responsible for what. Tom, you were the right man, in the right place, and at the right time. Thank you for your time and dedication.

Now, for one more thank you. This person deserves our thanks, gratitude and appreciation for all her hard work in making the PC Bocce what it is today. After serving from 2012 to 2019, President Cheryl Kasselmann will be stepping down but not leaving bocce entirely. Now she will have time to be just a bocce player. Cheryl was instrumental in creating the beautiful courts that we have today. Under her leadership, our members have played and won in the Senior Olympics. We held a very successful charity tournament which involved other community’s bocce teams. She was so devoted in making the PC Bocce Association the best, that other communities are envious of us. For all of the above, and I know there’s more, we thank you Cheryl, for your leadership, devotion, and dedication, all that made PC Bocce the success it is.
