Carolyn Rota
Welcome back, bocce players. How wonderful it was to see all the smiling faces and hear the cheers of everyone on the courts. The courts look good, and the removable boards carpeting that the rabbits ate look great as well. And we can all see the white lines. Now for some bocce news.
At the board and captains meeting on Sept. 27, the slate for new board officers was presented to the teams’ captains. The open positions were, president, treasurer, secretary, and statistician, and since we had one volunteer for each open position, it was decided to hold the elections at the meeting and not wait for the January meeting. So, our new board officers for the 2020-21 PebbleCreek Bocce Association season are: John Harguindeguy, treasurer; Tom Bose, president; Bill Gavin, vice president; Patsy Wagner, secretary; Angela Petter, registrar; Mary Ann Bose, statistician; and Carolyn Rota, public relations.
Also on the 27th, a tutorial explaining the program, “Quick Scores” was presented to the group informing them of upcoming changes that will bring PebbleCreek bocce into the 21st century. This program will give the teams easier access to the play schedules, stats, rules and by-laws, and more. You can reach the contact person, Tom Bose, at 623-398-8675 or [email protected].
The calendar for the 2019-20 league sessions is available at the clubhouses and in the PebbleCreek Post, as well as in the bocce glass bulletin board located outside at the Eagle’s Nest sports complex building. Please note that the registration for the winter league, normally done in November, will be announced once we have a working online registration program. Registration updates will also be on the HOA Monday website, the community e-group email, and the bocce bulletin board glass case.
Please keep in mind that all articles to the PebbleCreek Post must be submitted by the 10th of the prior month, so any changes after the 10th pertaining to meetings locations, times, schedules, or other bocce related information will be emailed to the captains and posted outside in the bocce bulletin board glass case. It is the captains obligation to inform the team of all updates and changes.
IMPORTANT: To reserve courts for practice, there is a sign-up book on the counter in the Eagle’s Nest sports complex building, next to the bocce courts. When you come down to practice, only paid bocce league members are allowed to open the shed and use the practice balls. The courts belong to the PebbleCreek community, and so any homeowner or renter may reserve bocce courts for up to 90 minutes. Keep in mind if you are not a paid Bocce League member, you need to bring a set of bocce balls with you or you can rent them from the activity center. Please remember to use the courts removable boards if you need to. These removable boards are to accommodate residents who have limited mobility. It allows them to proceed directly onto the courts without having to go over any type of barrier.
