By now, every person and team that wanted to join or re-sign for the fall 2019 bocce session has done so. If you haven’t, your next opportunity to join in on all the fun will be for the winter 2019-20 (can you believe it) bocce session. Early registration must be in by Nov. 29, and open registration is at the EN Kiosk on Monday, Dec. 2 and Tuesday, Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
On Sept. 27, there was a captains meeting. At that time, all attending captains and co-captains received the slate of officers for the election that will be held on Jan. 3, 2020, at 9 a.m. at TF Ballroom. Also, during the Sept. 27 captains meeting, Tom Bose and Angela Petter presented a tutorial informing the group of upcoming changes that will bring PebbleCreek bocce into the 21st century. These changes include a PebbleCreek Bocce Association website and updating registration. More complete information will be in the November PebbleCreek Post.
The calendar for the 2019-20 league sessions is available at the clubhouses, the PebbleCreek Post, and online at the PC website. It is also in the glass case at the EN Sports Complex building.
If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to your registration please call Angela Petter, registrar, at 623-215-3146.
IMPORTANT: To reserve courts to practice, there is a sign up book on the counter in the EN Sports Complex building, next to the bocce courts. When you come down to practice, only bocce league members are allowed to open the shed and use the practice balls for play. Any homeowner or renter may reserve bocce courts for up to 90 minutes. Keep in mind that if you are not a Bocce League member, you need to bring a set of bocce balls with you, or you can rent them from the Activity Center.
Also, please remember to use the courts removable boards if you need to. These removable boards are to accommodate residents who have limited mobility. It allows them to proceed directly onto the courts without having to go over any type of barrier.
Now for a clarification of the September PebbleCreek Post’s “Bocce update” article. As the Bocce schedule was published, it may have been misinterpreted that the voting for the new bocce board was happening at the Jan. 5 potluck and members meeting, but that is not the case. Only the captains or co-captains will be submitting their vote to elect the new board members at the captains meeting on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020. There is only one vote per team. Installation of the newly voted in bocce board members will take place at the Jan. 5 potluck and members meeting.
Wishing all of the returning snowbirds a welcome home, and to those that have not yet returned, wishing you the safest of travel when you do. See you on the courts.
